This expedition was my first chance to use Therion for cave map drawing. The surveying was carried out in the usual way and data entered into laptops after each trip. This was then used as the template for sketching and the resulting sketches scanned into Therion.
At the end of the expedition, for the first time, finished maps were produced. Little did I know that this was to be the beginning of a long learning curve. The finished maps, while looking good, were not correct by any means. Many of the scraps wouldn''t join properly and overlying passage appeared as underlying passage and vice versa. Mapping wasn''t helped by the fact that I''d never been to most of the places I was drawing.
More information about the expedition can be found at The Mulu Caves Project website.
